“If an institution like Tresor goes down a second time, it would be a catastrophe, and nobody will be safe. Everybody will go down.” After the fall of the Berlin Wall, techno in Germany became a symbol of cultural unity and freedom, transcending societal divisions. The genre provided an outlet for expression, fostering a sense of communal identity and serving as a soundtrack for the reunification era. Tresor, a pioneering techno club, was a cultural beacon that united people from diverse backgrounds and played a key role in shaping Berlin’s electronic music scene. The closure of iconic club Tresor in 2005 led to challenges, but techno culture persisted, adapting in new spaces.
