D16 Group Sigmund Delay Plug-in at a Glance: Four delay lines and an array of tone-shaping effects Sigmund contains four discrete delay lines, each with its own independent set of infinitely tweakable volume, feedback, tempo, phase shift, and signal domain (M-S or L-R) parameters. Each delay line includes a multimode filter, overdrive module, and amplitude modulator, allowing you to create everything from resonant filter effects to trashy distortion to tremolo. Sigmund is also packed with two multipurpose modulators that can operate as LFOs, envelopes, or peak followers, providing you with analog-like warmth, dynamic transient tone-shaping, and expressive wah-wah sounds.Multiple routing topologies offer incredible flexibility Sigmund’s four delay lines can be arranged in nine different ways, providing you with lots of creative options. Run your delay lines in parallel with different settings and effects on each one. Run them in parallel for a cacophonous cascade of echoes. Or run them as a typical multi-tap. The output signals of each delay line are then fed into Sigmund’s internal mixer, ensuring that you have complete control of your sound. Sigmund’s routing options give you plenty of room to experiment.Endless configurations fulfill a multitude of purposes Whether used as an insert effect or on
A physical modeling synthesis resonator. A New Kind of Physical Modeling Physical modeling synthesis consists of two parts: an exciter and a resonator. Whistles exciter uses granulated audio samples which is then fed into the banded waveguide resonator: a series of delay lines and tuned bandpass filters. The result is a loose modeling of a bowed elastic solid — similar to marimbas or vibraphones. The Exciter The “bow” of the instrument is an audio sample of your choice. With powerful spraying and window shaping parameters, the exciter can be full of bumps or smooth to the touch. Resonator The “body” of the instrument adds organic resonance through a series of delay lines and tuned bandpass filters. Each bandpass filter can be tuned to a harmonic ratio or to a fixed frequency, modeling materials of and out of this world. Narrow or widen the bandpass filters to dial in the “stiffness” of the resonator. Whistle additionally has a unique shift and target parameters for easily tuning inharmonic timbre. Modulation A simple modulation section can animate any of Whistles parameters. A simple function generator can be toggled between an envelope or an LFO. Pull apart the exciter source or bend and tear the
